We are always looking for new
members. Come to our next scheduled meeting and enjoy a
wonderful meal and fellowship. Please read below and click on the "Chef's Corner
Button" to see a descriptive view of our club.
HISTORY
The Village Church-Lutheran Men's Club was formed during a casual
lunch attended by Pastor Paul Ernewein, Fred King, and Ray Schmidt
in mid-November 2007. In an effort to support our church and its
functions, guidelines were set and Ray Schmidt was named the club’s
first president. Fred King was named the Chief Administrator.
During the announcements one Sunday morning shortly after the club
was formed, Pastor Paul told everyone that a men's club now existed
and that the first meeting would be held on a Monday in early
December. The agenda would consist of listening to God's Word,
having fun with a variety of activities, looking at football games,
playing darts using a professional dart board (Rule: Off the board,
pay $.25; hit the wall, pay $1.00), etc. One of the members in the
back of the church (never identified, of course) mumbled something
about that the ladies could attend the meeting.....if they wanted to
cook and that resulted in a lot of laughing and good-natured
ribbing. We were off to a fine start. At the first meeting in
December, goals and functions were discussed, culminating with the
club setting a goal to completely refurbish our new kitchen.
CURRENT
Since the founding of the Village Men's Club our Kitchen has grown
vastly toward a commercial level and now has been expanded to
include a very large outdoor cooking area to support fund raising
events such as our annual Lent fish fries that are now averaging
well over a 1,000 plates annually.
WELCOME
The Men's Club Meets at 6:30pm, the second Monday of every month.
Our goals have also expanded to helping
community groups and charities in need of support. We have a lot of
dedication and fun in the process. Help us support our community
and join. You don't need to be a member of the church to help
others. Please visit our photo page.
